Havin’ a Heat Wave

Some sights as we cruised the coast of Maine.

Although a bit foggy leaving Grand Manan, we sailed out of it into a bright sunny day. The water was calm and we made great time to Rockland, Maine. Always vigilant for lobster pots, and there A LOT of lobster pots, we did not snag any on our voyage!

We tucked into some islands on our way to Rockland - truly some beautiful boating. Lots of little coves and beaches to explore if we had wanted to!! However we had a reservation in Rockland and hot showers and cooked food were calling.

The harbour is large with at least four marinas, coast guard dock, ferry dock, and various boatyards. There is a public beach - well used I think, especially today. Ferries, small cruise ships, coast guard, fishing and pleasure boats fill the space! It is hot and humid here - no different than home by all accounts. Thank goodness for sea breezes! Safe Harbor Marinas have a good thing going - we highly recommend their facilities and hospitality. Tonight we will attend their monthly member barbecue and social on the dock - hope to meet some new people who are doing what we are doing - enjoying the beautiful weather and scenery while exploring the coast by boat. We are here until tomorrow, then hoping to make Portsmouth (another Safe Harbor facility to take advantage of), weather and sea gods being good to us.
